CLIENT RIGHTS

Your relationship with Dr Rogan is voluntary. You may leave this relationship at any time you wish.

LIMITS OF CONFIDENTIALITY

Your sessions are completely and strictly confidential except under certain legally defined situations involving risk of self-harm or harm to another, situations of child abuse, elder abuse, abuse of dependent adults or where required pursuant to a legal proceeding. In the case of danger to others, Dr Rogan will notify the police and inform any intended victim(s). In the case of self-harm, Dr Rogan is ethically bound to inform the nearest relative, significant other, or to otherwise enlist methods to prevent self-harm or suicide. In instances of child abuse, elder abuse, or dependent adult abuse, Dr Rogan will notify the proper authorities. Please note that email and text communication is not considered 100% safe and confidential.

METHODS

Dr Rogan’s methods are unconventional and by some standards, extreme. Even though Dr Rogan is a licensed psychotherapist (PsyD, LMFT 99728) his methods are not considered to be traditional or standard psychotherapy. In particular, specific interventions such as Mountain climbing, desert survival camps, surf and meditation retreats, cave diving and heliskiing go far beyond rules and regulations of the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Any time Markus’ interventions go outside of the norm of psychotherapeutic standards, you will be informed and your consent will be requested in advance. Note that as stated above, you always have the right to opt out and you can leave this relationship at any time you wish.

Markus does not make any promises to be able to assist you in case of an emergency. If you experience an emergency, you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify Markus as soon as possible. If he can fill the day or hour, you will not be charged. If he cannot fill the day or hour, you will be charged. This is a structured commitment of professional time reserved exclusively for you.
