“Come with me if you want to live.” It is not a discussion. It is not a dialogue. It is just time for action. I focused, dug down deep for courage, and reminded myself that I could do hard things. I plunged back into the water and survived the lap.

Read the full storyOne was at a dark time in my life when I did not know what I was going to do after my career as an athlete and getting ever more lost in a life of chasing achievement and glory…After a disappointing world championships 2009 in Rome I got drunk to drown out my anxiety. The owner of the nightclub I was at kicked me out but I decided to climb back in. The bouncers caught me and beat me to a pulp, the press found out and had a field day. I fled to New York City to hide and reflect. That’s when I decided to see a psychologist to ask myself all the questions I was afraid of asking earlier in my life: “who am I if I don’t win a gold medal?” And “what are the feelings I’m running from as I chase sex, fame and money?” And also “what kind of life do I want to live?” And finally: “what do I want people I love say to me on my death bed?”
It‘s the Olympic final. Four years, 10 000 kilometers spent training in the water and thousands of hours in the weight room come down to this moment. Childhood dreams are made and shattered in an instance. Dr Rogan both won and lost in these moments and today empowers performers of all types, whether on stage, on the field, in battle or on the executive floor to deliver when it matters most.
Successful parents. Failing children. Most parents go through great pains to avoid admitting that: „my child is a failure to launch.“ …even though he or she struggles with one form or another of addictive behavior, does not deliver vocationally or academically and seems more or less content to live off the parents‘ money or reputation or both. Markus helps these young men and women take accountability for their actions, decisions and eventually, their life. Dr Rogan challenges each one of his clients to dig through the pain of giving up comfort leading to a new life of honest personal strength and the self discovery of the value of hard work.
A strong executive needs to be agile yet clear. He or she needs to be able to deliver tough measures and yet care for employees. A leader needs to have a vision and yet be present for challenges in the moment to make sure business gets done. He or she needs to lead the team and yet follow the dynamics of the ever more customer driven competitive market place. Dr Rogan takes on these contrasting objectives and helps executives learn and apply tools from professional sports teams, Navy SEALS and leading research scientists in an immersive and out-of-the-box retreat environment.
